SF Bay to Breakers

We have been asked by Courtney Lord, Account Executive of Crispin Porter + Bogusky for MINI to participate in the Bay to Breakers Run this year on May 15th. Below is an excerpt from her letter to me:

"The race this year is on Sunday, May 15th. One of our ideas for Bay to Breakers is a “Race within a Race.” We are producing MINI costumes and we want to put owners in them to complete the race. We are planning on having hardtop and convertible versions. The cars will be rigid, with a high level of detail and would be worn over the shoulders similar to a barrel suit. We think it would be great to see a large group of MINIs “driving” through the race course (unfortunately the only real vehicle allowed on the street is the MINI pace car.)

Do you think your club members would be interested in participating in this way?

Courtney"

If there is any interest please email me or post your interest on this forum.

Make sure you don't get in a race against the Initial-D gang.

The "group" is not participating due to lack of interest. If you want to contact the sponsor directly try:

I think you can count on the initial-D gang joining you.

I ran in the 6-pack division from 1981 through 2000

From Scott Ostler's column entitled "Bay to Bonkers" (LA Times May 1981) ...

At the six-mile mark, I pass a centipede of runners wearing elephant heads, the tape player somewhere inside their collective costumes blaring the song "Tusk".
