I know there is a buch of detail freaks out there. Anyone insist that the car NOT be detailed before deliver so you can pick it up and detail it ourself? I would like to do this, but I am not sure Lola would let me.

I bought my 03 MC off the lot.The car had some of the plastic protective film on it when I took it out for its first motor. The dealer did not want me to,but I told them this was the car I wanted,so they let me go,50 Miles later I did the paper work, next day it was mine.

Yep

Prior to taking delivery of our 05 MCS, I asked the dealer to not use a buffer on the paint. They agreed and only washed the car.

I didn't, but I sure wish I did. When I brought my car home and washed it for the first time i noticed a bunch of swirl marks all over the black top. At first I considered that it could have been my fault, but since I did so much research before washing it the first time and it was all new materials I doubted it.

The next time I went to the dealer, I noticed many new MINI's that had the swirl marks, then I even saw a new black convertible being cleaned with a dirty **** terry towel cloth with swirl marks all over it. Brand new. how sad. needless to say, I always tell them no wash when i go there. And one of the reasons I bought from the dealer was the free washes every saturday, but this was before becoming crazy picky.

That was part of the deal. I "unwrapped" it to be sure it was perfect. Then taped it all up for the 200 mile drive home. The next week I covered the front end with Xpel.

Here it is all taped and ready to drive home, but still in the dealers showroom. People thought I was, well, CRAZY!

What? You're supposed to take off the wrap and the plastic over the seats?

Darn, I better get to it before my MINI has it's third birthday party!

The Blue MINI in my Sig is an imposter.
