FS: roof rack/bike rack

bike rack and roof rack used off a 04 mini. just bought the car used and it came already installed. asking 150.00 shipped to your door obo. (u.s. only) only thing you will need to "BUY" is the 4 bolts that need to be drilled into the roof of the car. (mini only provides caps to cover the existing ones) email briancgee@yahoo.com for pics

You may want to post pics on here to gain interest. Just click "Manage Attachments"... just a tip, you might get more interest that way...

Good luck!

If you have not sold it and would be interested in selling the bike rack portion only, I'd be interested.

Do you know how much this goes for "new"? And what it would cost to have the four "bolts" installed?

My dealer charged WAY TOO MUCH for the installation. . . . about $350!

However, I was happy to pay for it because I was not going to be the one who drilled a hole in the wrong spot on my MINI's roof.

I considered the money spent to be an investment in "hole insurance"

And its not 4 holes, it's eight that get drilled.

A decent quote from the dealer to get the racks installed is ~300 - 350 bucks, just for labor.

To give you a better idea, my local dealer quoted me $550 for the towers and bars, installed .

Then, you'd have to buy the bike attachment if you want it. That you can put on yourself though.

btw, twc, if you end up selling the bike rack seperately from the towers and crossbars, I'd be interested in just the towers and bars most likely.

Thanks :D

well I spoke w/ my dealer, it's $395 installed...you have to "buy" a new base unit, you can't just buy the bolts and have them installed.

aqualung,

Call the parts guy at Classic MINI and tell him the situation. Every single part has a part number and I just have to believe that there is a way to get the installation kit separately from the towers/crossbars.

However, $395 installed including the rack is a LOT better than what I paid at the Nashville dealership!

Thanks, appreciate the tip, but I'm (more than) a little leery of drilling the holes myself, etc...cheers..

395 installed is insanely good. My dealer quoted me around 550 installed.

And YuccaPatrol is right, you can get the installation kit seperately

If you want to part out the towers and bike rack, I'd be interested in the bike rack.

Also, I believe I have the installation kit, though I'm not willing to say It's complete (i.e., I have the template, instructions, and a spare set of bolts/washers for installation into the roof.)
