Anyone know the weight of the Gram Light 57S?

Saw that these wheels were going to be available shortly for the Mini, and was curious as to what their weight might be. I know they aren't forged like most Rays Engineering products, but it would be nice to step down in weight significantly from the S-lites. I should have my cooper S within 2-3 weeks and am looking forward to picking up a set of wheels shortly thereafter. Tirerack care to comment on this? Thanks!

17x7.5 = 17lbs according to wheel weights website.
not sure which gram lights it is but it should be in that range.

Alex will know but 17 pounds seems about right for 17x7.5" rims (+40mm offset) $255 each- good price! Estimated availability 5/21/05
There are also 16x7 rims in the same model.

Thanks Alex.

Yeah, the wheels look like they will be hot on a Mini, and I will likely have them ordered before they are available.

As far as the wheel weights that you guys are guessing, I would tend to agree. But it would be nice to know for sure. No doubt they won't be grossly heavy being that they are a Rays product, but we shall see.

Rays Engineering - Availability?

Any update on availability? I noticed the Gram Lights are up on the Tirerack Configurator but don't seem to be in stock yet.

I got my Gram Lights yesterday. Jerry @ Tirerack (Who works the account for my company) was very helpful in keeping me updated as I had ordered the wheels 2 months ago, and as soon as they hit the Nevada warehouse they were on their way to me.

I ordered them with tires, so I don't know the weight of the wheel itself, but I weighed the whole assembly on a postal scale before putting them on and then weighed the stock wheel/tire combo.

Total difference per corner: 9 pounds
Stock 17" S-lites and performance runflats: 48.5 - 49 pounds.
Gram Light 57S's with205/45-17 BFG KDW2's: 40 pounds

A nice weight reduction.

Great looking wheels! I love those but I think they're just outside my budget... I've had a hard enough time explaining all the other expensive mods to the woman...

Are you running springs on there yet? Center caps? Painting rotor hat cups?

No springs. Might run some in the future, we'll see. I'm inquiring about the Gram Light center caps from Tirerack, I saw Volk center caps sold to work with these wheels from one shop at some point in the past. Not painting anything either.

BFG KDW2 in 205/45-17 is listed at tirerack.com specs weighing 22 pounds each. Gram Light 57S in 17x7.5" is then about 17-18 pounds.

Looks great. Have fun. Stay away from curbs!

Btw, did these wheels require hub-centric rings?

Yes, hubcentric rings are required. But tirerack sends them with the metal rings pre-installed, no additional charge. So it's all good. I'm sure the 16's would look nice too, if perhaps a bit small due to the design where the spokes don't come quite all the way to the edge of the wheel.
