Camping at the Dragon!
Camping at the Dragon!
Whos with me?! I havent been camping for the past 8 to 10 years since my family lost interest. Its a fun--and cheap--way to stay anywhere so I think im going to check into the situation at local campgrounds and report back here for those interested!

I think it might be $10 a night --- but I could be wrong. There's a hostile there too if you are interested.

Hey thanks, just found this:
Located at the base of the Fontana Dam, the Fontana Campground has water and electric hook ups, a bath house, picnic tables and a wonderful view of the river and the bottom of the Fontana Dam. An RV dump station is located 1 mile from the campground. The campground is always cool in the summer due to the cool water coming out of the dam.
Full Hookup
$20
Tent Site
$15
CAMPGROUND IS OPEN MAY THROUGH OCTOBER.
15 a night isnt too bad if you ask me! Im going to call and see what they say.

Yeah...call Fontana about renting a campsite. And be aware that it very well may rain, so plan accordingly to bring the rain gear!

For those of you considering camping, the hostile referred to is the "Red Eyed Goat Boy" who has been sighted for years roaming the country side down by the damn dam.
He is known to live on giant spiders, and fried catfish, his smell is the first indication of his nearby presence, and confirmed by a very high pitched snore like Grunt.
When confronted he will rear back on his hind legs, snarl and hiss wildly, with eyes glowing like red hot coals, and spin around, pointing his hind quarters squarely at your face, and spray the most offensive thick green snot like substance over everything within a 15 yard radius.
The only known deterrent is Steppenwolf's "Magic Carpet Ride" played as loud as possible over and over , until the sun reaches over the mist laden mountains, ( Goat Boy has sensitive skin and don't like the daylightmore than he don't like Steppenwolf))
If you would like more info search the North Carolina Hysterical Society's web page under "Red Eyed Goat Boy Sightings"

Patrick,
Glad to see that you'll be at the Dragon
Looking forward to meeting you & Claire:smile: Be sure to bring that rain gear though. It rained like crazy last year when we went
Perhaps we all should start doing The MINI ANTI-RAIN DANCE so we're guaranteed "sunnie" weather
