Interior/Exterior Installation of racing stripes question.
I'm going to try to apply a set of white stripes on my wifes Indi blue Mini in the future. I was just wondering if anyone else has done it themselves and if it was complicated? Also, I've noticed that some sets also come with the stripes for the rear. Do the vintige Minis' have them on the rear also or just on the front bonnet?
Did mine about 2 months ago. I spent a lot of time working the bubbles out. A hair dryer is handy. I don't think the classic minis had rear stripes. I have stripes on my boot like the look.
I applied both the bonnet stripes and the UJ myself (with my brother's assistance) to Sprog...
It was about 70ish degrees, indoors on a rainy night, okay conditions for it, I guess. Get yourself a bottle of windex and spray it all over the bonnet, then set the stripes down over the windex. Now you can slide them around until they reach the desired position. Next, get the ol' squeegie out and squeeeeeeeeeeg until there aren't any more bubbles, starting from the center of the sticker and working out. And, since there is still rresidual windex, if halfway through the installation you find you don't like the placement, you can peel it off and start again. It just takes patience. Make sure your bonnet is squeeky clean (I did it the day I picked up my car). Afterwards, rinse off the windex with warm water, chamois off the moisture, and now you have bonnet stripes.

I got the 'shadow' stripes from Mini-Madness.com (rogue engineering is the brand) and they were easy to put on. The kit came with enough extra material that you can make a mistake and still have enought to get the job done. I put on the hood and boot stripes and have gotten a lot of nice comments.
Go for it!

I dissagree!!! Don't use windex. The ammonia will do some nasty things to the shine of your paint. Use a spray bottle of water and a few drops of the soap you use for washing your car (No dish soap).
I used a piece of masking tape to set the position of my stripe then layed the vynal down next to it and slid it to position. I kept the stripes about an inch away from the washer and angled them in like the stock ones. Unlike the stock I chose to wrap the stripe behind the hood and in the crease above the grill. Use a blow dryer to get it right. Be careful not to heat them up too much you can actualy stretch the vynal. The squeege you should use is like the professional kind, a hard plastic thing. Start light pressure and work your way more as it sticks down.
One other tip is to mark both stripes first with the masking tape and make sure they are the same. It is not as important to be in the right place as long as they are both the same.
I did all the graphics here myself.

Hey if you can't find a design you're looking for... let me know and I can hook you up ! If there is a design in particular you want... You or I can design it and I can get you a production (with or without an install) quote!
Good Luck!
