I am thinking of selling my MC40 front seats. Would anybody be interested?

Don't really know how to post a pic.

But I will pull out the trusty digital camera and try when I get home.

The seats in the MCS40 were specially upholstered for that limited edition model. I thought they were the niftiest part of the car. If that pattern had been an option on the standard MCS I would have ordered them. Seems as though selling them would reduce the collector value of the car.

So I don't need the OEM MC40 seats. They are specially upholstered and do look very sharp. Funny thing is I was just reading about the genesis of the MC40 and originally it was supposed to come equipped with the JCW seats and the JCW package. But the powers that be thought that it would effectively eliminate potential buyers based on a marketing price point. So the seats that the MC40 comes with now are essentially a compromise. You can see my Sparcos in my gallery.

That is interesting that the MC40 was supposed to come with the JCW kit and such. I remember hearing that a lot of these cars took a long time to sell due to the increased price and I wonder if they would have actually sold better WITH the JCW gear?

They still are not all sold ... MINI Peabody has two outside at the moment. As I have written on my weblog, I think the MC40 was wrong for two reasons (1) too expensive and (2) a big thing about MINIs is customisation - 1000 identical MC40s is not part of that.

Of course if the JCW kit etc had been added to the MC40, they would have been even more expensive - $35K for a MINI with no sunroof.
Anyway, nothing stops an MC40 buyer adding the JCW engine upgrade, and the JCW seats are simply not available in this country because of the airbags.

I just searched autotrader (nationwide) using the criteria of 2004 MINI Cooper with manual transmission and red in color. I came up with 17 MC40s for sale, many of them new or with less than 5k miles on them. Global MINI in Atlanta has 2 MC40s in their loaner car fleet.

It will be interesting to see if MC40s achieve highly sought after status in the future. But for now, it doesn't appear that way.

Good luck with the sale of your seats.

There is an MC40 loaner in the fleet here in Richmond as well.

MC40 abundance

Yeah, I bought mine at Crevier in So Cal and I negotiated to sticker price as they had three on the lot at that time. I really do think they will be worth more in the future as they will be the first, if not only, limited edition of the MINI. It may take a while though. I didn't want a sunroof so the car was outfitted as I wanted. Overall I am quite happy that I bought the MC40.

Now to the seats, I was thinking 800 for the set. I really don't know what they may be worth. I have a call into my interior shop as they were supposed to save the leather from the rear seat when they reupholstered it. If they did as instructed and saved it, I will include the leather from the rear seat in the purchase price. That way you can reupholster your back seat to match the fronts.

I don't think seat heating was an option on the MC40. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong...

They are not heated, as posted before that wasn't an option on the MC40.
