Welcome Dinner, Thursday May 5, 2005

It is time for the Welcome Dinner Thread!

Thursday, May 5, 2005 at 6:00 PM in the Dam Room at Fontana Village

After several cross-country trips by yours truly since last May, sndwave and I have planned a fun and very tasty Welcome Dinner for the big Third Annual MINIs on the Dragon Meet!

Will Collins, chef-owner of Sweetwater BBQ in Robbinsville, will cater the dinner! Here is the menu:

Entrees: Pork BBQ, Grilled Catfish, Smoked Turkey
Sides: Baked Beans, Coleslaw and Corn on the Cob
Bread: Sourdough Rolls and Hushpuppies
Dessert: Peach Cobbler with Whipped Cream
Beverages: Iced Tea, Coffee, and Bottled Water

Children 12 and under eat for free!

Unlike with other meals, there is no need to choose a particular entree; Will wants everyone to be able to sample them all.

Here is the link to register for the Welcome Dinner:
https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...come&eventid=6

Reservations will be taken until April 1. We'll have some items to raffle and live music, too!

**Edit: Reservations have been extended! They will be taken until April 21!**

All proceeds in excess of event expenses will be donated to the Ryen Neal Fund for infant heart disease research. Please read about it on the event page linked above.

Don't miss out on a fun and tasty social event! Sign up today!

See you all very soon!

Graham County is a dry county. Bring with you whatever you want to drink.

I love ribs. The announcement mentions Robbinsville and Fontana Village. Attractive names. A "dry" county. Where? I assume a state in the USA. Have fun.

A link to some clever and painstakingly done graphics. Thank you. Looks like a beautiful place to drive any car or just to walk. It should be especially nice with a bevy of MINIs. I have never been to that part of the USA although friends live in Knoxville which I notice is nearby. It's near that other coast. Whew, what a trip. Have a great time. And welcome back from being gone, MINIclo!

Thanks, Morkie! I've been to the Dragon for every "official" May meet since the first in 2003. Last year I also went back in July and in October in my quest to slay the Dragon in every possible season.

Just need to get there in winter! EEEEK! Slippery Dragon curves are a bit daunting! And yes, it is a beautiful area.

I’m sure we’ll have scalpers on a couple corners there. Just find the line of punters like you and queue up.

Erik, if you read my first post in this thread, reservations will be taken until April 1. We have to give the caterer the actual number of persons attending to prepare enough food. If people show up at the door without reservations, there may not be enough for those who have reserved meals.

Also, we need to have an accurate head-count for the raffle tickets and MKO magnet planning purposes.

Please PM me with any additional questions.

Thanks!

Clover

Sorry Clover it was meant to be a joke.

There will not be scalpers on the corners and there will not be tickets at the door.

Please get all advance tickets for the Welcome Dinner on the NAM board.
