What kind of roll-cage you have in there?

 

Roll bar is the "Sportsbar" by Built By Bones

Yes, the Alta shifter is down about as low as it can go. Makes for quick shifting, but it's too low to reach efficiently and takes a bit more mussel to shift. I am talking with a machine shop to have an extension made to bring the **** up about 8-10". This should make the ultimate shifter for a stock location I am guessing.

As far as the Sparcos go, I'm having a hard time with them comfort wise. In my youth they would be fine, but now that I'm an old man ( ) they are tough on my back and shoulders. Before I pull them out, I'll see if I can get them adjusted and maybe custom padded on the but and back, or just see if I can morph into them.
No matter, I will use them on track and auto-x days.

I rest my hand on the shifter and can reach the radiocontrols right from it so I don't think I'd like that short of a shifter but I bet it's alot nicer to shift with.

What did you end up doing with the wiring harness for the SRS? I want to install some seats myself but don't know what to do with that harness.

 

I have the Pilo shift kit in mine it is down there too. I was talking about the shift boot last week and don't know where to get one. Canyou hepl me out?

How hard is it to get in and out of the back seat with them in there i was thinking of putting some seats like that in when i get my mini

And where are your sholder harnesess hooking up to i did not see that in the pic Because i wanted to put 5 point harnesses in my car but i dont know where to hook them without having making the back seats so you cant get in them They sould not be any lower than 4 inches lower or higher than your sholder because when you get in a wreak it will mess up your spine if they are hooked up any lower or higher than that. What it does is flexes the seat and then compresses you spine i have seen alot of people set it up wrong

The factory seat belt receiver is still being used with the Sparcos as I use the Schroth Harnesses. So all the pulgs just go back where they came from with the exception of the Air Bag and heater plugs. I used a resistor for the air bag and it works fine.



The harnesses are Schroth and they utilize the rear seat belt clips. The photo will show you that for track days (the only time I use the harnesses) I run the belts up over the horizontal bar so they come into the seat at 90 degrees.



The seats do not tilt forward but I am getting a tilter plate from Sparco that will permit the passenger seat to tilt forward. At this point the rear seats are not accesable. The horizontal and diagonal bars are removable and with this rollbars design, the rear seats are fully functional. (Built By Bones).

As you see, I still have no back seats and the bars are up. Haven't had to put anyone back there lately.



Note in this photo that the shifter is no longer that low. I had an extension made so the shifter is in a MUCH better position for track use. I love this setup and think it's about the best I've seen.

I know it doesn't look the same and I did not get it from him. Others here on this forum have and it's the exact same as mine, but I paid over $40!

Now that you had your seats for a while. I have a friend that put a set of sparco's in his car and they did not last long, the material wore out and they looked horrable and he had to replace them. I would like to put a set of APC Racing seats or some sparco's in my car once I get it but I dont know how they would last.

How are your seats lasting?

 

My 30,000 miles 2yo Torinos have lasted well, no bad wears or anything. Two comments, one is the driver seat isn't as firm anymore compared to the passenger side, I feel sunken in now. Second the passenger side lower seat bolster fabric (not outer edge) shows more wear than on the driver side. Mainly because my passengers turn then get out, causing their clothes to rub on the fabric; whereas I get out of the car w/o sliding.

 

The primary issue is whether the seat is a street seat, or a race seat. The fighters above are street seats with bolster protectors and a thicker fabric. Something like the Evo is a race seat with no such protection and a much lighter weight fabric.

Mine are looking like new still, though I haven't put a ton of miles on since I put them in.
I ended up padding some areas and they are much more comfortable. I can do two hour drives now with little or no fatigue. At this point I'm very happy with them on the track especially. I had my interior guy put a slot in the front cushion for my new six point harness. Very custom..

 

I've done ~6hrs from NorCal to SoCal...

This might sound like a weird or silly question, but with seats like the sparcos.....if you have an overweight friend, can they not ride in your car anymore? Does it become that you can only carry people with certain waist sizes?

 

similar question, how do taller folks fit in these seats? I'm 6'2", how do these seats compare to the standard MCS seats?
