Does anyone know of any vid with the navigation system working in it? I didn't even consider it as an option - firstly because I think it looks very bad on the dash, and secondly because of it's reviews. But I've always been curiousl exactly what it looks like when using it, and vehicle startup.

 

What are you looking for, an aftermarket A/V system with nav like the Pioneer AVIC-N1, or a mod to the MINI Nav system using Nav-TV or somesuch?

Any particular aspect you're looking for?
At startup it shows the MINI logo, otherwise there are many different things it can do while 'working'. You can download the MINI Nav manual from Motoringfile, which gives lots of good screen shots. These would include:

just motoring - shows current location
address input - shows alphabet and available characters
route list - shows turn by turn (text) directions

and a host of others.
If there is a particular aspect you're looking for I can probably help you out, but you need to narrow down what you're looking for, or come by and I'll show you in person.

 

For example, showing how to key in a destination, what the screen looks like going down the road, approaching a turn, etc.

 

It's all there in the Nav Owner's manual - a video wouldn't show anything different.
Have you downloaded the Nav manual yet? It really does give an accurate representation of how things look, including coming to a turn, etc. Start at page 32 for pics of the display map.
I'm happy to create a short shot of address input, but I try not to take videos when I'm driving. :smile:

If you don't like the way it looks in the dash, then it's no contest - go aftermarket. I've got a Garmin CS60 which has a much smaller screen, but is quicker/easier to input addresses and find POIs. (Points of Interest)

The touch screen interface of Magellan or Garmin is much better than the twist **** of the MINI Nav. There's a lot of clicking you have to do in running through the letters/numbers of the MINI Nav, and too many steps to get to POIs.
I chose the Nav because I didn't 'appreciate' the large speedo, and pre-'05, that was the only way to get rid of it. As a bonus, I don't have to deal with wires and extra mounts, or removing the nav if I park in a dodgy area, and I've got a nice big screen. Had I bought an '05 I would have gotten the Chrono, a StreetPilot 2610 and a MINI vacation with the leftover $$.

I'll see if I can get a few small videos over the next few days, but I'm not producing anything like the fluff piece on the Magellan!

 

I'm looking in to the 2610, but WOW is it expensive - and I'm not big on the whole - box on the dash look. Does anyone have experience with the ique M5?
