Any value to a used R56 Continental HPFP?

I replaced the Continental HPFP on my 2012 MCS with new because it was starting to go. Is anyone rebuilding/refurbishing these, and is there any value as a core?

I hate to throw things away that might be useful; figured I'd ask before it went in the trash.

There are some companies that will rebuild them, but the reliability of the rebuilt pumps is sketchy at best. The market for cores is very low.

Roger that, thanks Nik. It's definitely lost oil.

I've been doing some homework and the rebuild process doesn't actually look too bad: I may try it just for fun and put it on the shelf.

Didn't MINI move to Bosch pumps in 2012? My N18 days are 2 years ago now so can't quite recall

There's a guy in Quebec that rebuilds them and offers one year warranty. Perhaps he'll pay shipping for yours.

service@hpfp-mini-cooper-rebuilt.com

Mine decided to go as I was selling it and I managed to find a used one, but was considering this as an option. Cheap and not so cheap Chinese rebuilds on
eBay with mostly questionable quality as I recall.

I had to replace the low pressure fuel line too.

For a part with a new cost of $700 to over $1000 at the dealer this is the kind of pricing that gets these cars scrapped.

cheers

Build date of ~3/2012 was the approximate cut-off for the HPFP model change over.

Correct. Mine's a 2012 but build date 10/2011 so it has the older pump.

I got a new one from ECS or Pelican, I forget which. Easy job but expensive part. Still cheaper than depreciation on a new car, though, lol.
