March 20th REME Run
March 20th REME Run
Lets meet at 10am for coffee on the square in beautiful downtown Healdsburg. At 10:30am we will drive through Alexander Valley and Knights Valley to Calistoga for a quick drive through downtown to head up the hill to Middletown. From Middletown we will drive through Cobb and Kelseyville to downtown Lakeport for a "potty" break on the lake. Next we will drive over the Hopland Grade to Hopland for lunch at the historic Bluebird Cafe http://catalog.com/mendo/bluebird/welcome.html, across the street from the original Hopland Brewery, and a visit to Real Goods http://www.realgoods.com/. Afterwards we will head down 101 back to downtown Healdsburg where participants can depart for home or do some shopping in Northern California's "Carmel".

March 20th Run - Sign up NOW
This is going to be a great run. As of today, I am expecting around 25-26 people in 15-17 cars. We will be driving through vineyards, by lakes and on twisty mountain roads.
This will be a memorable run with both classic Minis and MINIs in attendance.
Sign up on the links listed on the prior post.

I figured that as well.... just stop in for coffee and answer questions to the onlookers on the square. Hope next weeknd is as beautiful as this one!
REME March 20th run - update
It seems that we will have one of our largest groups ever for our March 20th run!! As of today, I think we will have 26 people in 18 cars.
The coffee shop will not be able to accomodate all of us, but weather permitting we can meet in the square (park) and visit Flying Goat or one of the other nearby coffee shops for drinks. If you have trouble parking on the square, there is plenty of parking on cross streets and a large parking lot off Center street 1.5 blocks north of the square.
We will leave Healdsburg sometime between 10:30 and 10:40am so be there promptly by 10am if you want coffee and want to visit before the run.
Email me if you need any instructions or if you need a map of the area. Maps for the run are downloadable off our website.
We have reversed the route per popular demand so the map has been updated. Download a copy at http://redwoodempiremini.com/calendar.htm
I look forward to seeing you all there. Feel free to bring MINI friends. The more, the better.

Hi Glenn,
Never believe the weather report 8 days in advance
We have no intentions of it raining on Sunday... maybe a little on Saturday, but definitely not on Sunday.
By Thursday night of next week, we should have a better idea of projected rain. We will meetup regardless, we may abbreviate the run a little if we have real nasty rainy weather....
A little rain with some sun, we will go as planned. A lot of rain we will shorten the run drink some coffee at 10am, and do lunch and socialize.
We are anticipating our largest group run. The rain can wait.

Just a reminder for everyone planning to attend:
Bring your 2-way radios set at 17-7 with new or recharged batteries.
Remember your camera.
Come with a full tank of gas (fill up in Santa Rosa. Windsor and Healdsburg is 5-10 cents more per gallon), and some lunch money or sack lunch.

Peter,
Ann and I are coming up Saturday and spending the night somewhere in Healdsburg. Can you recommend someplace?
If it rains too bad on Sunday, we'll go and have a "mud bath" in Calistoga and have a slow drive home, but the sun will be out on Sunday, for sure!
Thanks,
Keith

Keith, call me at home or my cell phone. How much do you want to spend. Because Healdsburg has turned soooo yuppie, its likely 30% higher than Santa Rosa. If you want to spend mucho danero(?) I casn recommend a Bed & Breakfast that is owned by some clients of mine.
ohhh... it will be sunny(at least 40% of the time hehehe).
Call me.

Hey Peter,
We're going to stay in Santa Rosa. Can you PM your cell phone again?
Rain or Shine we'll come up after I got off work, I have to go on a SF Bay cruse, it's a tough job but someone has to do it
.
TTFN,
Keith

In case you miss me (although my cell phone is always on), a nice hotel thats located on the north Side of town is Fountaingrove Inn, and is only 12-15 minutes from the square in Healdsburg. Very easy on-off 101.
Fountaingrove is a very nice place and my parents that stay there insist that its not that much more the the crappy motels that scatter Cleveland Avenue just acrcoss the freeway.
A more expensive option is Vintner's Inn on Barnes Road off River Road, just north of Santa Rosa.
There are also all the standard hotels scattering Santa Rosa including Courtyard by Marriot (south Santa Rosa), Doubletree (Rohnert Park), Dry Creek Inn (Best Western in Healdsburg), (2) Extended Stay America (one on the south side and one on the north end of Santa Rosa), Hilton (north end of SR), and a whole bunch others.
On the less expensive side, there are (2) Motel 6, Holiday Inn Express, Ramada Limited, and Best Westerns...
There is also a new time share resort off Shilih Road in Windsor. I know they rent rooms out by the night like a hotel. Its a very nice place, and if you sit thru one of their high pressure sales, maybe they will give you the room for free???

Wow! What a great time Elsa, Janet and I had.... hopefully everyone else did as well. Despite all the rain (falling about 30% of the time) we still had 16 cars turnout with around 28 people! As I am looking out the window... now it's sunny
We drove through vineyard covered valleys and forested mountains from downtown Healdsburg, 128 miles later, back on the north end of Santa Rosa, wine tasting at Kendell Jackson. IT WAS FUN!
I would like to thank everyone that attended the run, especially those of you who traveled great distances from the Sacramento area, south, and east bay areas. Your continued support of our club is very much appreciated while it's in its infancy.
Our next run will be more centrally located with our "first official club meeting" afterwards. We will meet at approximately 10am, April 9th and "do" the Sacramento Delta starting in the Suisun City - Fairfiled area and finishing in downtown Suisun City with a club meeting at a local pizza parlor around 5pm. This will be a "location friendly" run for all 4 Northern California Mini-MINI clubs.
We do not have raffle prizes... we have no sponsors... but thanks to Wayne and his generousity today we have a new policy. Any members that have quality extra parts removed from their cars or MINI stuff gathering dust in their garage, please bring them to our next run or meeting and give them or trade them to someone that can use them (or charge a minimal amount). I know we will be bringing a small bag full of stuff at our next run for "recycling".
Bigger items, can be listed on our on-line newsletter.
Whats old or worthless junk to one person, is quality new parts or accessories to another.
. The only requirement is that you use or pass it on to someone that does. Don't make money off of someone else's generousity.
