I wish there was an APR/Dinan style option for the R56. I trust a big name like APR for an off-the-shelf option and many of the APR/Dinan tunes are even California legal because they went through the process to certify them.

I was wondering, who would be interested in a tune from Dinan, if one was made available and they certified it to be California smog legal?

I have no affiliation with Dinan, but they seem to be one of the only BMW/Mini tuners that have any CA legal tunes, just not for the R56. I'm hoping we can get a critical mass.

@MarioKart and select other few are the only ones I'd recommend to get tunes from. These guys know more about this platform then Dinan/APR would ever, and its a legacy platform. Doubt they would invest anything in.

Pretty sure Mario is located in California as-well.

 

I understand that you will fail smog now in California with a tuned ECU unless that tune has been certified with CARB. APR certifies their tunes. It would be great if Mario could get certified!

 

Mario is just a dealer. The tunes he offers will likely not get CARB certificate.

What year is your car? N18’s can get the JB+ or NM plug in modules. Run it until you need to get smog check, then just have to unplug it.

@Lou@Prototype-R is a tuner and can create custom tunes, too. I’m pretty sure he has customers in California. Might be worth at least a conversation with him.
