Whining Noise Inside Cabin When Turning Steering Wheel

I’ve noticed a whining noise coming from the steering area inside the cabin. Here are some details:

• The noise occurs only when turning the steering wheel, whether stationary or moving.

• I do not hear it from outside the car, only inside.

• The sound is a whining noise, similar to an electric motor or power steering whine.

• The power steering fluid level is fine, and there are no visible leaks.

Any ideas on where I should start looking?

Thanks!

It sounds like it's coming from the steering column (bearing, clockspring, etc.) You might need a stethoscope to track it down.

Word of caution: If you remove the steering wheel to investigate, disconnect your battery first. If you don't, you'll trip the airbag light and you must use INPA software or programming device to reset it.

Edit: You may disregard my comment below.
I failed to view the video in your original post.
I agree - The whine does not appear to sound like the steering pump.
My apologies.

Forgive me if Im stating the obvious -
Are you sure you are not confusing a whining sound with the sound of the electric/hydraulic steering pump?
The steering pump whines when you turn the wheel whether stationary or in motion.

cause a slight voltage drop from 14 volts to 13.7 volts when turning the wheel (based on a healthy battery and alternator).
If it's not the steering pump whine - I would heed cooper48's word of advice if you decide to dig deeper.
Let us know what you reveal.

Best of luck
