R55 NA Clubman bogging down around 2500 rpm
Hi All,
I've posted here before about the 2009 non-S Clubman I've been working on. PO says the timing chain was never replaced, and was getting engine misfire codes. So I bought it for pretty cheap and replaced the timing chain and VVT sprockets. When I started it up, it ran fine for a few seconds then started puking smoke out the exhaust and running rough.
I pulled the plugs and they were pretty badly worn, so I replaced those and it ran a bit better, but seemed like it was permanently in limp mode - no power at all, still running kind of rough.
I replaced both O2 sensors with Bosch units, and it's improved some, but once you get the engine over 2500 rpm it seems to bog down. Can't get any power at that point.
The funny thing is, when it's stopped and in neutral, I can rev it past 2500 and it seems to run very smoothly. This is only under load.
Any thoughts on what I should check next?
Thanks,
Nick

I have a BMW-specific scan tool, but have misplaced it. The code I pull with a standard reader is P115C. That comes up as a MAF issue and on the forums here has been linked to a throttle body issue, but I've cleaned mine and even swapped it with a known good one, and still get this code.
