2015 F56 S - 100K Service Suggestions

Good Morning,
I have reached 100K miles on my 2015 F56 S. I am looking for advice on what preventative maintenance should be done. Should I have the two O2 sensors replaced?
Thank you,
Bob

I would not replace O2 sensors EVER replaced unless forced to, regardless of wether you are de-catted or not. HOWEVER, I would give serious thought to replacing accessories belt. NOT Timing Chain ! Belt = belt, Chain = chain. GET IT ? I see far too many people on this site asking the same question.

Replaced my serpentine belt at 108K miles but the one I pulled (original from factory off the assembly line) was in alarmingly good condition. So good that I would have left it in until at least 120K and maybe longer, except for the fact that getting it out of there on the 4-cylinder engine (meaning F56 S or higher) is a **serious** pain that you should only try to DIY once so you can learn it's one of those things where you're better off paying someone to do it (if indeed you *must* do it standalone).

But if you're in there and have to pull the belt for some other reason, I would say consider a swap.

There is really nothing special about 100K on these cars. You have regular maintenance interval stuff (sooner than 100K for the most part), maintenance interval stuff that BMW/MINI says don't bother with and they're wrong (ATF), and things that go boom and are effectively wear items despite that not being the plan (oil filter housing, upper engine mount, see this thread you'll get the idea) so you either fix them when they break or put them on an interval (once you've figured out what the interval might be, anyway...)

Yep thats thread and this:

https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...questions.html

This is what most MINI dealer have on their site.

MINI Cooper Maintenance After 10,000 Miles

After 10,000 miles, you’ll continue to alternate between the 5,000-mile and 10,000-mile service intervals. You’ll also want to ensure that each of the following components or fluids is completely replaced or flushed at the proper time:
  • Brake fluid flush and replacement – every 30,000 miles
  • Fuel filter replacement – every 40,000 miles
  • Coolant flush and replacement – every 40,000 miles
  • Transmission fluid flush and replacement – every 50,000 miles
  • Drive belt replacement – every 60,000 miles
  • Oxygen sensor replacement – every 100,000 miles
  • Battery replacement – Every four to five years
  • Tire replacement – Every four to five years, or whenever recommended
Thats under the condition based service system in your MINI> CBS for short.

On the F56 it seems we have a better list linked above to check out.

Yeah, that list -- despite being on many MINI dealer sites -- appears to be for R series MINIs and several things in it do not line up with the maintenance booklet supplied with the F series MINIs at *all*.

Not that the recommends are specifically bad or wrong, they need to be considered individually, but for the F series there is literally no mileage-based interval specified by BMW/MINI at *all* for brake fluid flush/replace, coolant flush, drive belt, or oxygen sensors -- for transmission fluid they claim "lifetime" rather than saying to replace it at all (which we disagree with for good, but the point is it is not a BMW recommend for the F series) -- and there is no drivebelt replacement interval (which is a bit maddening).

For the F series you either have to calc out what intervals certain things are on because they are tethered to the 10K mile oil change recommend, OR run with the CBS time-based interval (brake fluid is an example of that, and it appears to be 2 years), or use your best judgement (welcome to this forum and all its knowledge, everyone!).

Bingo, pretty much. And for some (previously noted) there is no CBS, and for others neither CBS nor printed.

Makes maintaining the car on a schedule a total blast... not!
