Rattle noise on Cold Start (MCS R56)
Rattle noise on Cold Start (MCS R56)
Hi guys,
So my 2007 Mini Cooper S has just been in the garage to have major engine work done, Timing Chain and Camshafts among a couple of other minor bits of work.
I’ve had the car back less than 2 weeks and yesterday I start getting this noise on cold start which disappears after 2-3 minutes when the car warms up. I’ve checked the oil and that appears to be right in the middle between the low and high markings on the dipstick, so it’s not that.
Any ideas? I would assume Timing Chain if it hadn’t been changed less then 300 miles ago.

I believe the whole kit was changed including the tensioner yeah.
Haven’t managed to remove the serpentine belt yet to check that, but today I caught this video of this helps at all, link attached.
Cheers ☺️
