N14 rebuild ideas

Greetings from SC!

I have a 08 s to play with in my shop. Great low mile example with a crashed motor. Pulling the motor and rebuilding.

Would love to discuss some mild options for enhancing performance while I am in there. I have the head done, although i could change cams still.

What would you do to meet or exceed jcw power and keep street drivability?

thanks
John H

Nice! @Lou@Prototype-R has built a few very high horsepower N14 engines. Get in touch with him for some thoughts!

It really depends what you are looking for - street, track; HP goals, daily vs fun, how much you are willing to invest ( I have two rebuilt N14 engines - pistons, rods, head, exhaust etc ... and your goals will determine the build, along with budget ! )

Lou is good and has not only personal experience, but as a tuner has seen a lot. We connect often

Street and mountain driving. MAYBE a track day or two just for giggles.

Will be looking pistons and rods, probably okay but will change anyway. Will open up the exhaust.

Driveline i will replace the flywheel and clutch, and install an LSD.

Ahhh

From your goals, I would lock in your CR and desired boost level. Not sure what trim you have, but if an S and stay with that turbo, you will have a lower boost ceiling ( i not sure what max optimal boost is for the S turbo - 16 psi ? ). If you go to the jcw or upgrade turbo ( ie airweks ) you can get to the 20s psi. You will need to upgrade your intercooler for this, as well as cat if it is an S. I'd stay with 2.25 exhaust for S and go to 2.5 if you push boost to the 20 range. You will get louder though - especially if you go catless.

sounds fun !

Now we are talking yes she is an S

yeah i can go jcw turbo (forgot to mention i got arp head studs already)

20psi sounds good.

I can easily make a 2.5” exhaust.
