Big Spark when Removing the Water Pipe

Tried to install the Motortek aluminum pipe today on my R61. Unfortunately I think the pipe itself is too short to have the O-ring on the thermostat side lock into the clip socket. So I tried to pull the pipe out and in the middle of jiggling a BIG ELECTRIC SPARK popped (I was stupid enough to forget to unhook the battery). The tip of the aluminum pipe has a dent now after this.

Putting the endoscope down there and found a potential exposed wire but wasn't sure (See photo). Tried to read error code from BimmerLink but couldn't find any short circuit lock, and the only error code related to electronic system is "coolant senor short to positive" (of course because I removed thermostat!)

Does anyone have an idea on what might have been burnt? Is it okay to ignore it?

Potential burnt wire, anybody knows the OEM number of this part?

Thats weird as the OEM part is the same across all R55-R61 on the water pipe. I would check the fuses and the main grounds. Also fix or tape up the wires to be sure nothing happens again.

Yep I have no idea why.I tried to pair it with both the Bremmen Metal thermostat I ordered and the old OEM thermostat, it just doesn't work....... The wire harness is too deep to be taped so I cant do anything about it ......

BTW, the metal N18 thermostat from Bremmen has a louder jiggling sound than the OEM one, is it normal?

Isn’t the starter right under that
pipe? The main terminal for it
would make a BIG spark you
were monkeying with an
aluminum water pipe and contacted that and a ground
with it.

Yep the noise is in the thermostat, mine sounded the same. I would try to get to those wires. You dont want bare wire or damaged wire exposed.

Just an update on the motortek water pipe. It did end up working, its just shorter so the OEM clip is practically useless since it will never be able to lock into the socket. I still ended up put the clip back on to make it more OEM like
