hey all so my 2011 r60 has been leaking oil however recently it seems to be much more pronounced.
i believe the issue may be the oil filter housing gasket but I’m not completely sure.symptoms are
-hard right turns trigger oil light, then turns back off
-going uphill seems to trigger limp mode however sometimes it turns on during startup and eventually disappears.
-gas below half causes check engine light(May be unrelated)
-oil leak is worst when turning car on then off.
i don’t know if I should only buy the gasket and attempt to replace, the turbo line or the entire housing. I honestly don’t know if that’s even the problem I’m the first place but this seems to be the highest point of the oil leak. Any help is greatly appreciated thank you.
Don’t know what the orange looking piece is, maybe seal of some sort?
From the images that leak location is almost certainly the oil filter housing gasket. I've no explanation how those other symptoms would relate to this (not meant to imply there isn't one). Replacing these gaskets is neither easy nor particularly difficult for a competent backyard mechanic. I'm almost certain there is also coolant going through that housing for the heat exchanger, so be prepared to deal with coolant as well as oil during repair. Personally I had a shop do mine, and it was done in half a day instead of a whole weekend it might've taken me.
Car going into limp mode when pulling uphill is a common turbo diverter valve and/or wastegate actuator problem, often with code 2c58. For me it was the wastegate seat, I opted to replace the turbo.
