2011 Mini Countryman leaking or losing oil

My 2011 Mini Countryman is losing oil. THe oil light comes on about once a month. I'm not a heavy driver, only 400 - 500 miles a month

A few questions:

Have you figured out where the leak is coming from?
Have you done your own oil changes or brought it somewhere?
Has it been a MINI dealership?

If you did it yourself, I would check and see that the Oil Plug and the Filter Housing are secured tightly to the torque specifications.
I don't know them off the top of my head but they're posted on the forums several times.

Good luck.

It's either dripping oil from a loose oil pan plug or a loose oil filter housing or possibly but unlikely a leaking oil line around the turbo. Have you seen puddles of oil under the car or looked under hood for obvious leaks? If no leak is detected then the engine might be burning oil. Does the exhaust show smoke or does the radiator coolant look strange like it has oil in it?
