I am finally back in the Mini game and picked up a 2021 Cooper S Paddy Hopkirk special edition yesterday. Missing the 37 numbers on the side though. Soon to add!
In the past I modified my mini and want to do the same. Hoping to go full DP exhaust, intake, and tune. However, it looks like I may have stumbled into a not to tunable platform.
Any advice people can give I would appreciate!
Mainly looking for exhaust first and really want to try and get some pops and bangs if possible.
This is a great spec MINI. Stickers can be oredered from the dealer, at least as of a couple years ago. There are two Paddy Facebook pages, great people! Enjoy
There is a video by "The Miniac" of a Paddy Hopkirk with pop burbels that had a JCW exhaust. I suspect the customer did a tune, but don/t know. Anyways, the PHE did pop/burble.
If you want a tune, a master mechanic from a different brand that knows F series inside and out picked https://bytetronik.com/ out of Hutto,Texas for his tune. He tuned it at 100,000 miles and now has about 165,000 trouble free miles. And he gets on the MINI hard some times. His is a 2016 I think, but they can do newer years now I believe. There might be more gains elsewhere, but these balance longevity more so I was told. Good luck!
Now, you can begin the rabbit hole that is Youtube Paddy Hopkirk videos lol.. Congrats!

Appreciate the info! I just ordered a RamAir intake and Scorpion non resinated cat back exhaust.
The plan is to find a tune and add the HFDP from Scorpion and lowering springs.
I don’t want to change the styling too much to keep the Paddy Hopkirk edition alive but wondering if I could get by with a blackout belt line kit from Mini since everything else is already blacked out.
For the tune, do you know if they have any way to remote tune? I am the farthest from Texes sadly.

Heard back from bytetronik and sadly they can not tune anything past 2020.
Is the only option to send the ECU to Finland for an unlock from Femto? This gives it a bootmod3 license I guess and then I would request a custom tune from bootmod3 to whoever does the custom tune.
I got this information from DervTech this morning in a message from them as i requested a remote tune from them as well.
@RichsMINI
when I took out the circuit board for the DRL’s I noticed there were orange for turn signals. Did yours have that as well and will I lose that with this?
Got my Scorpion non resonated exhaust installed and everything was super easy.
only issue I ran into was the V-band clamp from the DP to the pipe from Scorpion.
the flange on the scorpion is rather wide but with a little persuasion I was able to get it. There is a small leak but I’m guessing it’s because I never swapped out the gasket or the clamp is not wide enough. Another days project.
The exhaust sounds good but there is a little drone. All in all very happy and fitment was beyond easy.
I’ll upload photos after a bit.
Did you notice that the LED turn signals in the front are now a lot brighter and a little more vibrant? The IND Motorsport+ LED modules are well worth the money!
For the intake hard pipe I went with Forge because of their quality and it was on sale.
- Nick (The MINI Vlog) and I did a video on his channel about the installation and there are a couple of other videos with my MINI. He also has amazing MINI content!
I know you mentioned about unlocking the DME for tuning
- I would reach out to KIES Motorsports support team to see if they can do it for an F-Series MINI
Agreed, lights seem much brighter. I asked them about Fog lights so they could match. They responded saying nothing yet but would look into it.
I hope to get my exhaust leak figured out as it’s driving me insane. Idk if I need a factory v-band clamp or if I go after market. The scorpion exhaust flange is so wide.
I may return my dinantronixs elite if the tune can get figured out.
