11 Convertible purchase ?s

Might check out a 11 non-S, auto, convertible soon.
My dad has had it for a while & pretty much told me to come get it.

Known current issues.
Needs a battery: Do these need any programming on battery replacement?
Rear brake sensor causing brake light on the dash
Amp got wet & radio doesn't work. Amp an easy replacementor aftermarketstereo option?

Biggest one, water leak at rear glass. Can this be resealed?
He currently has the trunk floor out & the plug removed so it'll drain when it rains.

Not opposed to putting a bit of work & some $ into it, if these can be resolved fairly easily & DIY.

Thanks all!

Ran the VIN decoder & it's actually a 2010, if that changes anything. Triple brown, if memory serves, Hot Chocolate x2 with a brown top.
Would rather an S & prefer a manual, but it's practically free apart from needing a bit of cash thrown at it for a battery & either a top [glass] repair or replacement.

Not sure, but a 2010 might be the N14 engine depending on the build date... Not sure "I" would go for one of those regardless the upfront cost

Thanks, I'll try to get a shot of the emissions sticker to see the engine code.
Car is about 90 minutes from my house, currently.

VIN decoder on here doesn't specify engine spec.

In the event is a N14, and the worst happens, can a N18 be put in?

It would be easier to search for an N18 vehicle. Take your time and look for the right car.

The N14 wouldn't be the end of the world, but it will require MUCH more attention than an N18 engine.

Roger that. It'll be predominantly a work commuter with pretty easy highway miles & gave my dad no trouble when he was driving it regularly.
Main current issue is the leaky window in the top, and apparently the door windows forget their location if it sits for a few days & has to have a relearn.

Any N14 precursors to a major issue?

BIG advantage knowing the car's history. If he's willing to give you a deal, might be worth it.

The 'deal' is "Come and get it"
The catch is, it doesn't have a title, so I'll have to do the bonded title song/dance.

Longer version, he worked for a speed shop for a bit & the car had been there a couple years. He got it running well & was using it for a shop car/commuter on Dealer plates instead of his 6.2l V8 GMC Denali. Dealer plates are now expired & he's not with that shop anymore, so it's been sitting at his house for about a year.
Bought the car from the shop with the expectation that he would get the title. He, and I, have tried to contact who we think is the owner of record (shop invoice in the glovebox), with no response.
