I bought a 2015 countryman s and was told it had a bad engine. Low and behold it just had a dead battery turns over great now. But that leads me to my issues. It won’t start. Code reader shows codes 0033FF engine oil pressure control valve action circuit short to battery (+) and that’s it. After digging through it I’m not getting power to the coils. Looking at the wiring diagrams the relay under the hood isn’t closing to power the coils due to no ground. The ground comes from the fuel pump relay so I had that changed. Didn’t fix it. If I jump the relay with a wire I get power to the coils but then when cranking I don’t get any spark or trigger signal and still won’t start. Best I can tell I’m getting power into the dme and out of the dme to power the coils with the jumper. I’m wondering what I’m missing. It has good compression but haven’t tested it. Turns over great smells like it’s getting fuel just need the spark to come in. Any insight or ideas would be appreciated so I don’t have to haul it to a dealer to have them check it out. I’m leaning towards crank or cam sensor right now. My aultel scanner won’t go into live mode but the tach moves when cranking. Thanks
Are those codes the only ones in the DME right now?
Did you get a new battery, or just drop one in you have available? I’m not sure what you background, but these cars are very sensitive to battery voltage. Since they run on a CAN bus system, voltage monitoring tells the computers what to do. Wrong base control voltage, and all sorts of weird things can happen.
For the oil control valve… these engines use a control solenoid in the oil pump to control oil pressure. The bushing where the solenoid wires go through the block can let oil seep through and work its way up the harness to the DME. It’s possible that’s what happened in your case. Yes that’s all the codes it threw that’s why I’m so stumped on this. I can throw a battery in it and see what that does for me maybe it’s as simple as that if I could get that lucky.
So I put a new battery in it today. When I was cranking with the old battery it would drop to 8.60 volts. Def spins over better and Gaines blower motor function back. But still no start. Ram code reader again and came up with new codes. Dme connectors looked good no corrosion.
Looks like you have some electrical connection issues. This probably preventing the coils to fire, etc. Latest shows footwell module issues. I had an intermittent main relay issue where communications would be lost and get a crank but no fire result. Ended up swapping and replacing faulty relay as the corrective action. Check and press down all your engine compartment relays and fuses...
