P0087 and NEW HPFP....Help!!

Hey All,

I am stuck...

Was driving my 2013 MCS N18 yesterday and get an hour into the drive, come off of a light a feel a light stumble, come off of the next stop light same thing all the sudden going about 5-10MPH the car just shuts off.

Check engine light comes on I pull the code P0087: Fuel Rail/System Pressure - Too Low Bank 1

I called the dealer as i know the HPFP is a common issue here but I always thought the 2013 one's had resolved this issue but i guess not.

I was given the part #'s:
13518605102
12518638006

I received the parts today from FCP Euro, I ordered the cheaper Bosch branded one along with the wiring harness. Car now starts but "hunts/stumbles" at idle and when driving it around the block it bucks.

I am not really sure where to go from here I am seeing recommendations for changing the low pressure pump as well as an issue with the JBE solder point for the fuel pump relay.

The other annoying this is the 2 wire plug that i had to cut and splice with the new harness are different colors. Black and White wire on the car currently with a White/Green and White wire on the new harness. I was unsure how to wire them so I matched the way the wires were on the plug and wired:

Black from Existing Harness to White on New harness
White from Existing Harness to White/Green on new harness

Any help here or ideas of next steps would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks

Okay, so i went on a hunch and pulled the JBE checked the connections. Fuel Pump relay solder point loose....soldered it up. It's slightly better but still having stalling issues. I ordered a new relay but that will not be here until Friday...could it still possibly be the relay with the stalling being intermittent? I noticed without me touching the throttle the rpms jump randomly.

Glad you found the issue! Stuff like that can be exasperating. Yes, the MAF is directional, and if you look closely, there should be an arrow for flow direction on the side. Make sure the arrow is pointing towards the engine.

Glad you found it, the wire is pain per application when you change it the first time. Yep that arrows on it.
