John Cooper Works & Denver Dealer Question

I'm thinking about having the Denver Mini Dealer (Ralph Schomp) install the JCW kit for my '04 Cooper S.

I'm a little concerned when it comes to having someone take my engine a part, so I was wondering if anyone knows of anyone that has had a JCW kit installed there and their feedback on the results.

Thanks!

As long as Anthony is the one that does it, I wouldn't have any worries.

Enjoy the kit.

I missed saying it before, but welcome to NAM.

If you're not already a member check out mini5280 also remember that Randy at webb motorsports is in the area too and a supporter of the club. Oh, also mferguson (founder of NAM) lives north of Denver.

So there are lots of good reasons to get out and enjoy your new MINI.

Yes, Welcome to MINI Motoring and MINI5280!

As DiD said, welcome.

MINI5280, it's officers and it's members would like to invite you to join our little community. Thanks to people like DiD, mferguson, and Randy, this club exists and thrives. We had about 40 events in 2004 and expect at least that this year. January alone has had rides, Breakfast GTG's, and our first formal meeting of the year.

We meet EOM at Ralph Schomp MINI and EOM at Webb Motorsports, usu on a Tuesday evening. We would love to have you join our next meeting at Webb Motorsports on Tuesday, February 22nd, at 7:00 pm.

In the meantime, we invite you to membership, a modest $27 per year. You can use your own PayPal account to pay ( send to Treasurer@MINI5280.org ) or you can go online to our site at www.MINI5280.org and find the membership form there.

Also at our site is our current events letter, links to past events and pics, and other information. Our next event is a Canyon Carver run, on Sunday Feb 6th before the Super Bowl. We will meet at Coors Brewery, Golden, CO. at Noon. Come on out and meet some folks...and get your ya-ya's out.

Please contact any of our officers for more information: President@MINI5280.org, Membership@MINI5280.org, and Treasurer@MINI5280.org. Our next newsletter publishes on February 7th so there is much to look forward to.

Thanks, hope to see you soon.

Jonathan

Gah. I'm picking up my BRG/B MCS from Barron in KS on Thursday, but I've got a huge assignment due on Feb 7th. Can't make this one, but hopefully I'll be able to meet the next.

Actually, I think the first thing Anthony will tell you is to not get the Works. It works really well at sea level, but needs alot of extra oxygen, of which we have none here, to get you better performance.

Go with the Type two upgrade!

JCW Kit vs Stage 2

I test drove a mini with the Stage 2 and it performed very well. The dealer did not have a mini with the JCW kit installed but they ensured me that they where both very similiar in power and performance.

Sounds like Shazam White Lighting disagrees with what I was told. Is there really a big difference in performance between the two?

Thanks!

Ask Vince in the showroom. He and Anthony may tell you the same, that JCW is great any way, but to save a bit and to get better perf at higher alt, the Type II and a pulley system may do you better

I would also encourage you to check out our offerings. We offer a 2 year 24,000 mile warranty, and have literally thousands of happy customers.

The pricing is as good or better, and the performance of a kit I could build for you would be better, guaranteed.

You are welcome to stop by the shop, give me a call or send an e-mail. Right now in the shop I have a project car from Mexico City with a whole slew of neat parts going in ($20,000+) as well as our test mule - a fully built 260+hp MINI racer. I also have darts and foosball!

Hope that helps!
Randy

Hey Randy,

Do you have a dyno at your shop?

Do you have dyno numbers to post on your car (SAE)?

Also, posted something on your site about the seat install...about a torx size error...check it out when you get a chance

Thanks.

Y,

Not yet - I keep looking for the best deal. I will be at DynoJet for the AMVIV, and I'll be doing a dyno run on The Mule with the latest stuff on the car for all to see (assuming the car hasn't sold). I'll also be discussing their new load capabilities, and may end up leaving the proud owner of a new DynoJet...

I'm not sure if that is a Cooper v. S thing, or a model year thing, but I am certain the car we did was a T30. I'll start checking them out in the shop - thanks for the heads up!

Randy

It is over there. I tried stopping him as he drove off from the brake job! I just missed him.

I'll see you at 9:30 - you'll get to check out the progress on the Mexico City MINI.
