2015 Countryman Interior Door Handle Replacement

The old interior door handle has broken where the cable button connects. I was able to find a new door handle, however, I'm not sure how to remove the old one. The old door handle is fastened to the removable panel by either plastic buttons that I can't remove or melted plastic. I might be able to remove the plastic buttons with a Dremel Tool and secure the new handle with screws but I'm looking for guidance before I do something I regret.

Thanks,
Gregg

Hello,

Those are held in with those clips, they are hard but you have to pry them off and then install new ones. I done them on other MINIs and you need a little flat head screw driver and work it side to side.

Here is the door panel.

Watch number 8 and 4 when taking off the door.

R60 2015 Countryman Interior Door Handle Replacement

My Mini does not have these Starlock push on clips that you are showing. My Mini has, what appears to be, a plastic rivet. I wish I took a picture when I had it off. I found on a BMW forum where someone was asking a similar question regarding the replacement of the speaker cover that is also fastened with these plastic rivets. The 'pro's' advice was to cut off the plastic rivet top and install the new part using the supplied screws. Hopefully, the door handle I ordered will provide a solution, otherwise I'm cutting and screwing it on.
