2010 base model

The signal lights and both side windows don't work. Could it be a common problem like a fuse or something

NO.....Your footwell module is having issues . Please check for wetness as this has been a known issues. The footwell module is located on the left side next to the clutch pedal. You have to pull back the kick panel and carpet to access to the unit.

@al b ,

You can find a good decent used module from Ebay "BUT" you'll need to go over to an import garage or dealership who has a special computer to REPROGRAM the module. Without reprogramming, some of the features such as radio, reverse light, turn signals, wiper motor, high or low beam headlights may not work. I learned it the hard way eventhough I found the exact match but it still needed to be reprogrammed.

Have you checked the bulbs first?

@al b ,

Your footwell module is definitely broken. You need to get another one and have it reprogrammed by an import garage or dealership

I checked and it says there is a recall not yet available. I'm going to call the dealer.

The car has a new battery and been parked for about a week now it barely turns over. Could it be caused by the FRM?

Some cars are not under warranty. https://www.miniusa.com/owners/tools...rt/recall.html Check your here.

I would check a new footwell module, pull the old one and check for corrosion at the plug or on the board inside. If so replace it. Make sure you select the correct one per vin/year/options. Then it has to be reprogrammed by MINI dealers. We carry them and most are off backorder now from the big recall campaign.

My VIN# has an open recall for the footwell module. Does that mean I should go to the dealer and get it replaced on them? How does that work?

Hello,

Factory Warranty / Recall has to be done at the dealer, call and have VIN, schedule an appointment.

If out of warranty from dealer or denied by MINI, then we replace if their is something wrong after you buy a new one from US. We don't do recalls or warranty original parts on the car.

ECS Lifetime replacement.

I haven't done anything to the car but charge the battery and start it. Now there is an added problem, brake light is on, could th at be also caused by the FRM?

Yep, its messes with all the Lighting functions inside and out. Also the battery is a key part, if you have a weak battery it can also cause the same issues. If you got to a local auto place they can test the battery, if its good, then its the FRM aka footwell module.

I can take the battery out for for a day or so and not create problems with the car electronics? Or do I have to plug in a power source to take it out?

You can disconnect the battery and remove it to be tested. Once its remove just don't touch anything on the car. It will not create a problem other then you will have to rest the clock/radio stations in your car.

Today I took a ride to the dealer and Autozone.
Mini is not covering the repairs at this time. The dealer said I could pay for the repairs, $800 to $2000, and submit to Mini and see if they would reimburse me. I don't think so.
Autozone says the battery is good.

It does sound like a bad FRM, but I would check everything else before getting a new one. If battery is good I'd check FRM connectors. The flimsy connector resulted in weird electrical issues for me a while ago.
I was installing LED fog/running lights kit and needed to tap in to one of the wires going into footwell module. When everything was installed, I lost my lights, the hazards would not work, and everything behaved weirdly.
I thought I have wired something wrong. Turned out to be one of the connectors on footwell module. Everything works as expected ever since reconnecting.

Yep FRM. Also check the connection first.

https://www.ecstuning.com/b-dorman-p...hed/502-095kt/ Then get it flashed by MINI for a couple hours labor.

or with your vin i can link the correct one. Its about $350-550 dependent on model.
