Already posted a thread on this topic, I have no idea where to go next. My radio and connected/nav screen is dead. When the head unit is connected, it draws the battery down to dead. Does anyone have pinout/wiring diagrams for the screen and the head unit? I want to check if power is getting to the screen or not. It flickers when the battery is connected, but that is all I have.
Here is what I have done so far:
Checked footwell fuses, then removed entire speg unit to check for bad connections or solder breaking down. All looks good, no water in the car.
Replaced both the screen and the head unit with known working units.
Disconnected both head unit and screen at different times
Changed and reset car battery
Made 100% sure this car doesn't have nav under the seat
Looks like I will have to check wiring for shorts from the separate radio parts. I found this diagram but hoping for anything else or any other info that might help me with this electrical gremlin. r56 diagram
I did find this thread: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...t-working.html where a helpful fellow posted the text from MINI for this issue getting fixed and if I am reading it right it looks like the MJoy was shorting or messed up and that caused the radio to not work?
Get an AMP meter, and connect it to a battery cable (positive or negative). Make sure you zero out the amp meter.
Make sure the car goes to sleep.
See how much amperage the car is drawing after it goes to sleep.
If you see more than 50 mAmps, start pulling fuses from the fuse panel; it's located behind the right kick panel, but you probably know that if you're looking at schematics.
When you see the amp draw go to zero, you found your misbehaving circuit.
I had a car in my shop about 6 months ago with a parasitic drain problem. The dealer changed the PCM for a cool $2200.00 and that didn't fix it. I followed the step above and found the factory radio had a short in it. It as drawing 1.4 amps hen the car was asleep.
