Does you radar detector have some sort of output for this function? I have only heard of this on supper high end fully concealed units.

As for the Mini being capable I doubt it.

Yes - escort 9500ci has a lead for this function

How does the nav from the factory work? Does it mute or lower the volume of the radio when a direction is given? If so, there must be a lead inout on the head unit for this?
Anyone?

Thanks

The integrated Factory NAV in the Speedometer overrides the volume of the radio. BUt the NAV System is part of the head unit so there is no "lead inout" as you are asking for.

The second type of NAV from Mini is nothing more than a removable GPS and thus doe not override the radio volume.

Sorry if my question was dumb, I just am not familiar with the factory nav unit and I've seen so many minis with Nuvis that I assumed that they had the Nuvis plugged into the audio system.

Thanks

I thought there was an Audio Mute Pin somewhere in the stock wiring harness that is used by the Bluetooth integration circuit/module. Or was that just in the Generation 1 MINI's?

Anyone know if you could use this? (ie. have a small custom circuit that detects a audio signal on the Radar Detector's headphone/audio out jack, and then using some sort of a timer circuit, set the Head Unit Audio Mute pin to mute for x number or seconds that the Radar Detector takes to auto mute then resume audio play).

I have bluetooth and it does mute the radio, so maybe there is hope that there is a pin in the wiring harness. Can anyone confirm this? What wire, which harness?

Thanks

Good luck, but I doubt there is a mute line. In the 1st gen, mute was performed through iBus commands, and aftermarket devices like the Valentine One tapped into the iBus. In the 2nd gen, mute is probably done through the MOST bus.

As far as I can figure, it's done through the command bus, and all the fun stuff is locked up in the centre console. I've been looking at some override hacks, but it's too early to tell so far.
