Reviving my R55

So my Mini has been off the road for some time. some life events have happened. and I just haven't had the money or time to fix it. how ever things are on the up and up after the pandemic and I can finally get to the car and give it the repairs it desperately needs.

Before I parked it I was doing a night run on Rt 129 TN and got to the top of the mountain and did my normal pop the hood to let the engine cool down. found the lil turbo glowing faint red under the heat shield. During the course of the following week I found my mini smoking more and more under the hood. and then eventually out of the tail pipe. now I suspect I cooked the turbo and its leaking oil and coolant internally and needs a new turbo. my question is can I get a 09 JCW turbo and bolt it on to my S and be fine or will it cause issues with the computer. will i have a constant over boost CEL code or something weird.

What would I have to do to get a JCW turbo to work on my R55

Things I have done to my MINI
Valve cover gasket
steel braded turbo oil lines and new oil filter gasket seals.
Water pump plastic to metal and new water feed tube.
Timing chain kit from Detroit speed.
Regrettably install a turbo from Maxrodding speed only to find out it was locked up.

JCW turbo will bolt right up, direct swap. ECU shouldn’t need a remap, as the JCW turbo isn’t that much bigger. You already have the turbo oil feed line, so that’s good. I would get a new oil drain hose to go with new turbo. Mini has a turbo installation kit out together that might be good to have on hand. It includes new nuts, studs, and stuff:

And, if you want to get the most out of the turbo upgrade, give a shout to @Lou@Prototype-R for a new ECU remap

That's definitely a negative.........unless you get the DME, CAS, and KEY.......Plug and play this way....
If you just get the DME it has to be coded to recognize the key........

if it a DME issue, your going to need a new one or a Cloned ECU.

I was actually about to call you guys and ask if you can repair and tune mine at the same time. Gives me a chance to visit family in Stirling heights.

when you say it was leaking internally was it mixing oil and coolant in the engine? Dealing with a mixing oil and coolant issue.
