R60 Reading all the codes
Reading all the codes
So I have a random code coming up maybe once every 2 weeks that puts the car into Limp mode. I keep a code reader (cheapo) in the glove box to read and reset codes, for the most part its worked fine, however lately, the car is throwing a code that comes up as N/A on the reader. It does reset but I really would like to know what it is. Do I need to get a BMW specific reader (I think I have read Schwaban tool or something in the forums in the past). There must be some extended codes that are outside of the standard OBDII range. I also have Carly but never have the Dongle with me, not sure if that can read all the extended codes or not.
I use the schwaben one here to pull all the hidden codes. https://www.ecstuning.com/b-schwaben...020sch01a~scf/

So the codes seem to come up about a mile after first start for the day, 3 days, same codes. They will clear then not come up again. Code 002C58 and 002DA0. Any thoughts? Using Carly so the data from the app appears available.

2DA0 is a code for the intake cam position. Could be a fault with the sensor, or a slipped cam bolt. Have you had a timing service completed recently?
2C58 is a charge pressure code, which “could” be related to the intake cam position code…

Thank you njaremka, no timing work at all in the last 50k miles. What's weird is it seems to do it just once, after a cold start then runs like a top after the code is cleared. I have driven for hours after that with no issues. I can look at a Cam Position Sensor replacement, is that the only sensor to look at, I would think a crank sensor would cause codes with both cams right? If the cam bolt slipped would it cause issues continually?

So I replaced the Intake Solenoid and swapped the Cam Sensors Intake to Exhaust. On a cold engine, still throws the code after about a mile, same place. After I reset it, it runs like a top, no issues. I was googling the 2DA0 code and someone said that their VANOS sprocket holds oil and if the seal is bad, it leaks out and will throw this code until it is again filled back up with oil. Anyone think there is any validity to that?
