Lane Departure Warning. Is it working for you?

While chatting with another MINI convertible owner this week, we agreed that neither of us have ever felt the steering wheel vibration that is supposed to indicate we are departing from our current lane without a turn signal on. Have others noticed this feature working on your MINI convertible? We also have it on our 2017 Subaru Outback, and it definitely works on the Subie.

I do have this feature and noticed it working immediately after entering the highway (after taking delivery of new mini) let me say i noticed because I never had this feature in any of my cars! So yes it is noticeable but not intrusive!

My JCW is a hard top, not a convertible, but I can feel the steering wheel vibration from the lane departure nanny. But I dialed this down and the vibration is pretty subdued.

It's definitely noticeable in my 2022 SE.

If it's like the BMWs - and I can't imagine why it wouldn't be - you can configure the type of response from the car when something is detected. Takes some digging through the menus, but it should be there.

I just reread the 2022 MINI Convertible owner's manual on this topic, and it appears the Lane Departure Warning is only active after the car reaches a certain speed, and only if it was enabled the last time the engine was on. There's no mention of any way to set the level of response to a lane departure, nor could I find any such settings by checking through all the settings menus I could find in the car.

I noticed it was set to off again when I checked the settings today, tho I always turn it back on whenever I notice it off, and suspect it may somehow disable itself at shutdown (like the engine off preventer.)

I'll try manually ensuring the lane departure warning is enabled the next time I go highway driving, and see if I can make it trigger noticeably by switching lanes at speed without using a turn signal.

There's also a green indicator that comes on when it's active. If the car can't detect the lines in the road, it will turn off temporarily.
