oh no! it doesnt match that beautiful dark silver!

i dont think it'd be that hard to get a body shop to just paint it for u tho

let me know how well it works out, its too bad the cold is here eh? it'd be good to compare aaic to a waic

Both intercoolers look very nice. I already have a large aaic, but I have been thinking about switching to a waic. Well only time will tell, if I make the swap.

Don't ya just love 4-figure power mods that don't have any performance data posted?

Water to air is much more efficient than air to air. $2k seems a little steep. Don't expect to see huge gains unless you are hevily modded or do extensive track time in hot weather.

Why don't you get one and test it yourself?

RMS data was posted on a German forum.

Here is the link:
http://www.newmini-technik.de/viewto...=1224&start=15

The company that did the install and Dyno runs is the same that did the OBX header runs....HiTec.

Clarification?

Andy,

Are you for or against the purchase of an intercooler for a modded car? If so, do you believe they make power or not? Dyno evidence of gains seems hard to find. Can you direct me to a thread that addresses this?

Looks to be by the data that Andy has posted the stock IC is pretty efficient at high speeds. Even on a hot day it was 80%.

I too am interested to see efficiency testing of this new intercooler on a MCS. Especially in ambient temps of 90F+, since we have plenty of those days in AZ.

BTW, the IC is ver nicely fabricated. Didn't get to see a picture of the radiator or plumbing to the radiator, however.

Why is it that the 19% pulley set continue to dog larger intercoolers as a waste of money? I don't care how much power the 19% produces or how much risk one is willing to take, it is backward engineering, period. Doing things correctly, and building in margin costs money. From my perspective the question isn't wether or not a larger intercooler is necessary. The question is, air to air or air to water, depending upon where you're driving or racing. To say a larger intercooler is a waste of money is mis-leading. There are folks here without the knowledge or time to perform the reasearch necessary to make value judgements. So, instead they become confused by such statements. Back your comments up boys!

Ultrik (ultra - trick with a German-esq K? ) doh! Please tell me that's not how they came up with the name.

Nit pics aside, it looks nice, very finished appearance from this photo.

If the Ultrik uses a similar design to "Laminova" it probably has greater efficiency. ...But how and if this equates to maintained or even improved performance remains to be seen.

IMO they Minia Mania were doing quite well until this quote:

"Your S will perform like it does on a cold winter morning, even on a hot summer day!"

...Well, that and the price, Ouch! For that kind of green performance better be comparable to an fmaaic (not that I've seen those numbers yet either )

Your work is valuable, and, usable Andy. I'm grateful I can benefit from it. Your comment above is somewhat contradictory to your methods to date and mis-represents truth, however. Truth, consistency, flexibilty.

Your last post in the above thread also points to your search for a larger IC to compare.

What exactly is your beef? I have documented the performance of the stock intercooler. I haven't seen any such documentation for this one. Please go back and re-read this thread as many times as it takes for you to understand what I wrote.
