R56 Replace Mini Cooper Leak Diagnosis Pump and charcoal filter
Replace Mini Cooper Leak Diagnosis Pump and charcoal filter
2007 R56 Mini Hatchback; 125,000 miles; running just fine.
Keeps throwing CEL codes that point to the Mini Cooper Leak Diagnosis Pump. I looked it up on the Pelican Parts website and found the Leak Diagnosis Pump is on the rear, underneath, next to fuel tank and charcoal filter. Replacement seems to be straightforward -- remove some hoses, remove a few fasteners, pull out Pump and charcoal filter, stick new ones in, replace fasteners and hoses. It can't be that simple, can it?
I checked prices at Pelican Parts and found the activated charcoal filter for $282.25. I found the DTML pump priced at $203.00 for "Mini original" but $55.44 for a Bosch DTML pump for the Mini -- why the price difference ????
Thanks.

What happens is people like to overfill at the fuel pump and sometimes the fuel can spill into the filter system. Just don't pump extra fuel after the pump stops. That will keep the fuel EVAP system from failing early. Other times if just the system failing early due to use and not over fill.
The filter is here and no aftermarket:

its in the back corner in front of the wheel. Yep, just watch as it has fuel vapors, also its a pinch and pull connection on those ends.

Bosch is the OEM one, MINI likes to mark things up for Genuine.
