New shoes for Ricky on Friday

Had to take the 18 F60 “Ethel” in for her annual today. When I went to bed last night I thought about the rims and title set they had at the dealer last year.

They still had them, so now they go on Ricky (23 JCW) Friday. Also adding floating JCW centers.

The current 18” tires will go on the shelf for Ethel when she needs new tires. I will put 18” studded snow tires on the existing rims next fall.

They were $5k last year so on their 2nd mark down.

Love those wheels. Heavy, but they look awesome!

First oil change complete. New tires, rims, floating JCW center caps, and JCW mirror caps. Ricky is very happy 😃

Why do OEM wheels cost so much more than aftermarket wheels? Are they that much better? And if they are better, what's better about them?

No they are not better in most cases...and heavier for sure. But some like the OE look and a particular style so you are stuck with it. You are just paying for the Mini "tax". Nothing wrong with that, some like it some don't for running OEM branded stuff. I always replace my oe wheels with aftermarket ones that are comparable or better for the OE+ look plus shed some rotating mass at each corner. Our F60 runs on Moteigi but our R53 runs on stock mini lites. looking for a new set to replace the R53 set now...17x7 or 8s or something.
