Dash vents "loose"

My new-to-me Clubman all of the eyeballs in the dash are loose and droop with driving. Is there an adjustment on them that can make them stay where I put them, aside from shoving some thin pieces of plastic in there to keep them in place?

The "*****" are held in place by thin pieces of black felt. When the felt gets worn, the "*****" get droopy. I had to go to the hobby store and get some black felt, cut small pieces, and wedge it in there to stop the droop.

Felt or velcro soft side.

Somewhat involved to access the vents for disassembly but straightforward if you've ever dug into the dashboard to remove, for example, the radio.
