R60s misfire

Hello everyone,

Hoping someone has an idea where to start with this. So I was getting low boost codes recently and decided To change my turbo on my countryman from the standard s turbo on the n18 to the JCW turbo. I finished the job yesterday and took it for a test drive, It was driving great and built 10psi but after about 10 minutes I got the same low boost (2C57) and wastegate (2CB3) codes. Today I decided to try adjusting the wastegate and took it for a test drive. It drove great again but after 10 minutes I got a huge misfire on cyl 4 and 3. Limped home then Tried swapping the plugs and coils around and the misfire Is persistently on cyl 4 & 3. Set wastegate back and problems persist. (Codes are 2EFE,2F02,2EE0,2EED,2FAB,2F01,2EE2,2EEC,2EF0)

maybe it’s a sensor?

Im stumped here, any help is greatly appreciated!

Ever find out what it was? Injector(s)? Run any cleaner through it?

Solved

Actually figured it out yesterday so your timing is immaculate. It was a bad DME unit. Found a numbers matching unit from a Countryman being parted out and had the data from my DME cloned onto it. Runs a million times better and fired right up first try. The way I traced it back to the DME was checking continuity while the engine was running on each of the coil wires. I had no continuity on cyl 4 which was the source of the misfire. The guy I had clone my DME said that a faulty unit will usually present its self in the coils or injectors being shut off and that causing the misfire.

https://aetoronto.ca/ is who cloned my unit for me. Highly recommend Tony to anyone in the GTA who needs a cloning or diagnostic work. Super knowledgeable guy.

Wow! So your #4 was the only one misfiring? What would "numbers matching" be?

The misfire was strongest on cyl 4 with the occasional misfire on cyl 1 and 3. Numbers matching meaning the bmw & Bosch numbers. My bmw # was 7648190 for example. It’s a little tricky to find a used unit but it’s a couple hundred vs a couple thousand buying a new unit.

Where is this number? Is it a series number on the unit? Like a rev/version number?

it’s on the backplate of the dme, they typically start with a 7 or 8 for this generation. The Bosch unit numbers are printed a little smaller above towards the top of the labeling
