Air Distribution Switch Malfunction

Hello everyone, I have just bought a second handed R56 last week and I have a question about the manual climate control hoping anyone here could help to resolve. I have found that the positions of the air distribution switch are all shifted. For example (see attached picture), when the switch is at position 1, the airflow direction should be to the footwell but now it become to the upper body. Another example, when the switch is at position 5, it should be to all directions but now become to the windshield.

I have asked the last owner about it but he said this problem was there since he bought from the owner before him. Does anyone know what wrong to the system? It seems the switch is working well but just the positions are all shifted.

I have checked the picture of the climate control online, it seems there is a white colored switch at the back, does anyone know what is the function of that switch? Any chance that switch is using for adjusting or shifting the air distribution positions?

Perhaps does anyone get the R56 wiring diagram for the climate control? I am thinking to fix it by changing the socket pin assignment.

Noooo! Do not change your wiring; you will only cause problems. I've had a problem with my '07 MINI with the temp control. I took the panel apart, and found the cheap plastic gears inside had skipped a tooth. I took it apart and re-aligned the reference marks. All fixed. I made a video a while back an posted here on the forum. Let me see if I can find it.

Found it.

This is for the blend air door, but the Valeo uses cheap plastic gears for the mode door too.
