You may wish to rethink this. If I recall, the Shark Injector is VIN-specific. That is, when first used, it records the VIN of the car onto which it will be first loaded. Then subsequent attempts to load will do a compare of the destination VIN and the VIN in the Injector's memory; if the two don't match, the Injector will not load the code.

You may want to verify this before accepting any offers in order to avoid problems.

Maybe you should contact the manufacturer. I have never heard of a Shark that can be re-used on another car after the initial installation and "mating" with a VIN. It is programmed that way so that it cannot be shared among multiple vehicles (well at least that is one of the reasons I believe).

FWIW, on other programmable tuners, the tuner will work on other cars if the stock tune is placed back on the original car. Maybe that's how this one functions?

Well...I'd be very, very cautious about this item...regardless of what MINI Madness has told you. I am not sure that they have had a great deal of experience with Conforti products.

Turner Motorsport has been tuning BMWs for street and race, and have years of extensive experience with the Conforti product line. They have published a .pdf with some FAQs about the Shark Injector. In the .pdf they caution those who would buy a used Injector. You can download the .pdf HERE.

Why don't you try it on a friend's MCS and and really make sure you don't get an "Error Code 162" before offering it for sale?

Hope this helps,

Theo

I'd be interested in your test results (whether or not it will work on another car) as I have a Shark Injector for a M Roadster and was told that once used it IS VIN specific. Sold car to dealer and didn't want to give it away to them. I'm told by everyone on the BMW forums that the fact that it was used to remove the program is irrelevant. If your dealer re-programmed the ecu to factory specs the Shark would be able to down load the upgrade again.

Why are you selling, did you dyno the car? Did you feel the changes weren't noticeable? Mine was advertised to increase HP by 15 but I didn't notice much, if any, difference.

Wouldn't it just make sense?

Wouldn't it just make sense that it would pull the code from the ECU or we'd all just share one?
Everyone could just chip in $10 and we'd just UPS it around the country.
I'm guessing it's not going to work, (this comes from a computer geek), possibly the "new" owner could send it back to have it reprogramed at a cost but just to plug it in...you may want to investigate this further.

Not sure how the Shark works but if it is like the Hypertech Power Programmer when you use it the first thing it does is uploads your stock info into the power programmer and then it programs the car, Meaning it could only be used again when you loaded your stock info back off it but could be used by another vehicle and it does only one person anygood at a time but can be used by another vehicle, It is proprietary to whom is using it at that time meaning if you have a custom file loaded on your car it is no good to another car until you uninstall the custom back to the tuner then it can be re-used.
