CEL code 12AD01

went for a ride, copped a CEL 12AD01, said running lean when I plugged in Dongle & ran Bimmerlink. well, the downstream aft. cat. o2 sensor is plugged & zip-tied out of the way, so I must be stuck with it huh ? it also said something about the rear window heat wire too.I don't think that would throw a code & I don't even know how to turn on/off. I just don't get it.Looks like I gotta getr around to putting on MarioKart's DP & a new aft.cat. sensor.

Would appear that a previous owner removed the post converter O2 sensor.

If you want to address the error code you could get a new sensor and install it. Clear the codes. Road test the car. If any codes appear read them and come back.

Wire to the rear window heating element could be broken. Or a connection is not secure/good. To turn off/clear the error code associated with the rear window heater circuit probably requires a more sophisticated OBD2 scan tool. But first the reason for the code would have to be determined and addressed.

I removed the aft. cat. O2 sensor because it's got a Forge Cat.less DP, it's thrown a code before, that's why I removed it from the DP to start with. now it's gone the opposite way. Lean instead of Rich. & I'm going to un-plug the aft. cat. sensor altogether since it's thrown a code, it's no good anymore, right ?. what I do want to know is everybody out there who has a cat.less DP, how do you address the problem of aft. cat. O2 sensor ? I've got a Veepeak OBD2 scanner. it's not throwing a code because of R. window heater, it just mentioned it. I got tinted windows & don't want it on anyway.. to start with I wonder where the on/off switch is, maybe I bumped it or something, maybe it was previously unattached to start with. That's what happens when you buy a used, hopped-up car !

now I know why previous owner built this car. & sold it ! I paid $16,6 for a car that was built at the factory to sit on the Miami dealership's showroom floor & sell Minis. It cost $29,6 on Build sheet. The first guy leased for 3 yr.s & put 25k miles on it. the 2nd guy had it for 2 yr.s & put 15k miles on it & built it to the teeth . almost optioned out, perf. parted, lowered, sent to Renn Haus for JCW brakes & Hot Tune. it's worth $50+K with 40K on odometer (.I got Carfax, Build sheet & VIN # sheet, Carfax before I looked at it) the only mistake they made was the Forge cat.less DP. it throws rich codes with O2 sensor in & lean codes with O2 sensor out. SO I'll replace Forge cat.less DP with MQUBED DP (MarioKart) & throw in a fresh new $120 downstream aft. cat. O2 sensor from Pelican Parts (already on the way) & BOOM ! problem solved & I'm ahead of the game again.
