Fan stays on after head gasket replacement

Last night I redid my headgasket and I replaced my fan while I was at it. I installed the dominator cam so it will not start but the weird thing was that my temp gauge reads completely hot so my fan just stays on for a min. I put my key in the ignition and the fan starts up right away. i know before I did my headgasket my car was overheating for a while and I didnt know so is it like i need to reset my ecu for my temp to go back to normal? Also I have a brand new thermostat but this engine had a head gasket sealer put in it so I am wondering if the thermostat is stuck due to the sealer.
let me know thanks!
Also later today I will have adrian tune my car for the camshaft so I will update what happens.

Make sure you reattached the coolant temp sensor. It’s an electrical connection near the thermostat.

Wow, that was the culprit. Thank you!

That makes me feel a lot happier than it makes you feel, and I know that made you happy!

Did you fix the fan resistor on your car?
Theres a fat resistor that’s notorious for blowing on these cars. The fan start up on low speed at a coolant temp of 105C (221F). When the temperature drops to 101C (214F) the fan will switch off. The fan switches to high speed at 112C (234F) and remains on high until the system coolant temperature drops by 4C (7F) at which point the system reverts to low speed.
You can test for this using most scan tools; they’ll give you a readout of coolant temp, now that you’ve connected your sensor.

One other thing… when you put it all back together, on the left side of the supercharger underside there is a TINY vacuum line that has to be reconnected. Like, too left (American passenger side) of the supercharger near the valve cover.
