R55 Windows Not Working Correctly
Windows Not Working Correctly
The other day my 2012 Mini Cooper Clubman S front windows started acting funny. When I pressed the up/down button they will move about an inch either way but that is it. I have to press repeatedly to fully lower or open them. When windows are up with doors closed when I open door the window will drop slightly as it should but will not raise again. I tried putting the fob in and into accessory position fully lowering the windows then hold the down window for 15 seconds then raised window and hold up window for 15 seconds but nothing changes. It has happened with both windows so it has to be some sort of reset thing. I tried unplugging the battery and then plugging back in but no difference.
After researching I think I may have a bad Footwell Control Module. When I try window up or down their was clicking in that location. One of the symptoms is erratic window behavior. It is a known issue and I see that BMW increased the warranty for this to 10 years or 156,000 miles so I am going to call dealer tomorrow. For those of you who don't know, this module is located in the drivers side footwell. Just remove the trim by the trunk pull and remove the 10mm screws. Very simple. If out of warranty you can send off for re-flashing and repair but that will run about $250.
I have not had the time to deal with this yet. Turns out I am just out of warranty. I see that "https://the-ecu-pro.com/" offers testing and repairs for about $250. I think I am going to take it out and see if there are any bad pins first before sending out. I will update the forum once I find a fix. I swear this mini has the worst electrical issues of any car I have had.
