I havent been on this forum in a while.

I am looking at getting back into a mini cooper. I sold my 2004 mini cooper s grey/white 6speed and I am really wanting another one. Obviously the newer ones are much bigger than the one I had, but I definitely like how the new clubman looks. I am not sure if this has been asked already, i did a few searches and came up with nothing. As i continue to search for the right car, I am seeing decent pricing on Clubman S models that have around 45,000 miles on them, with the auto transmission. Still not sure if i want a 6 speed since not everyone is able to drive it. Nonetheless, my question is how much mileage is to much mileage on a car like this if i dont have access to service records. Usually im in the train of thought that an engine with 45000 miles on it still has a lot of life left in it but I could be mistaken. I have found some lower mileage cars but they are not the S models. I prefer the look of the S model, even though i think the hood and bumper are all interchangeable between the models. Any help, tips or advice from yalls ownership experience would be greatly appreciated.

Not sure about how much is too much, been driving F54 since 2016 model. But they were on lease so i got a new one 2019, and then finally purchasing a 2023 model without lease. Ive driven each for around 30k miles and no big problems, i don't imagine 45k is a lot. But definitely go for the S model. The Non-s model I also drove for 3 years, the power feels really dull because the weight of the car.

 

This question is interesting. All current German cars( MINI is a BMW brand) can be very expensive to repair. A lot of members on this forum are do-it-yourself owners. But I am not. Because of my situation, I would be very hesitant to buy any MINI without some warranty protection.

 

Find one with warranty left on it. Then abuse the dealer for any warranty issues.

Remember the 3rd gen S is a 2.0 vs 1.5 for the non S. It makes a difference in models larger than the 3 door hatch.

 

I am at 66K on my '17 S ALL4 with the 8sp auto and not one issue to date. Been running the Dinan Sport module on 'max' setting for at least 20K, only issue is a stupid check engine light due to failing 'zero pressure' test when you shut the car off...purely a Dinan program issue, nothing really wrong. I still have just over 4 years left before I turn a new leaf, so we will see how the last 44K or so miles go on this ride.

In any case, I would think that 45K on the clock is still 'good', but it does depend on how long you expect to keep it too.

 

2017 Clubman S all4 at 80,000 miles, mostly highway miles @ >60 mph.. No significant issues to date. If looking at the clubman, remember 2019 is the last year you can get a manual.

 

Just picked up a new JCW F54 Chili Red over Nunuk White, Blacked out trim & stripes (8 miles)! My 2015 F55 is going up for sale with 160,000 miles on it, runs and looks great except for the scars left behind from the hood stripe removal. Only a few repairs I can recall over the life, small evap system inline valve (easy), Upper control arm bushing (shop), Upper Motor mount (shop), & a Cracked oil filter housing bracket (shop). I'm sure it's running on borrowed time, but you wouldn't know by driving it. I think these things are more durable than most people think.
