H11 Bulbs in Fog Lights

Hey guys, tried searching but didn't get much information. I have a 2013 R56 Justa!

Have any of you switched from H8 to H11 Halogen bulbs in your R56 fog lights? Wondering if the extra power draw will cause any harm to the FRM, also will the extra heat be an issue going from 35w to 55w per bulb?

Cheers!

Why upgraded halogen? I would just get some decent led h8 bulbs and be done.

I'm not a fan of drop in LED bulbs, most of them just scatter light all over the place and have less usable output than a halogen which is designed for that reflector housing.

I've seen a couple of MINI where bulbs where changed out for something hotter and the wiring got cooked off destroying the entire holder when bare wires touched and shorted . . .

came to me to diagnose the problem and this was one I had no fix for other than buy a new fixture . . .

This is why I wanted to ask the question before installing a higher wattage bulb, thank you for the info! I'll probably just end up going with a yellow H8 bulb or try and find a decently focused LED replacement.

IMO.... from a LOT of personal testing....

I have never had an issue going from the 35w bulb to a 55watt bulb... with only 1.6amp difference in load per bulb.

The H11 OSRAM - Cool Blue Intense H11 is a great bulb... and matches the color temperature of the factory HID output well... Works with the factory reflector fog-housings and puts some great light 'down the road'

Amazon Amazon

Most LED bulbs are not an upgrade in performance.... and many cause more headaches than they are worth.

Sure... many of them are Brighter... but scatter that light all over the place... which is really bad for oncoming traffic.

Until you get into $150+ LED replacements.... It is just not, IMO, worth changing out from Halogens in terms of light Quality/pattern and actual measured brightness in the factory housings... and the cost factor is a question only the buyer can answer.

IMO, The best H8 LED's after trying MANY of the better brands... GTR ULTRA 2 bulbs.

These are some serious lighting devices... and pull the full 35-watts (same as the incandescent).... Most H8 LED upgrades pull less than half that... Wattage, with beam control = exceptional light output without blinding oncoming traffic as mentioned above.

The MoriMoto 2Stroke-3.0 LED's are a decent runner up.
