Uncontrolled D and DS

My wife’s mini randomly changes from drive D to drive sport DS without touching anything. The indicator light on dash will switch from D to DS sometimes several times a minute. The RPM will change just like it should when changing to and from sport mode. This happens without ever touching sport button or shifter. This just started today. Appreciate any help.

Yeah, post your question ONCE or people are going to get annoyed.

If I had to guess I'd say maybe a faulty switch in the shifter. It goes into DS when you push it to the left. See if you can replicate or minimize the problem by either moving the shifter left-right or holding it to one side or something, that''ll at least give a clue about localizing the problem.

The other possibility is a problem with the button, but in that case you should see the light on the button coming on and off (I don't think it turns on when you engage DS by moving the shifter to the left).

OK I will try that thanks a lot for the information. Initially I posted my question in the R 56 thread and then read that I should’ve put it in the stock/issues thread. I did that and then figured out I posted under first generation. Two stupid moves there hopefully I won’t annoy anybody thanks again
