Confused... no dipstick AND no "check Engine Oil level" option in CID
Just got a used 2015 F56. Love the drive and its a super fun car to boot around in. Now I've been reading about the dipstick challenge HAHA, but I'm kinda in a stuck spot... My center radio doesn't have the "Check Engine Oil Level" option in the vehicle information section. HUH??? Is this something that needs to be enabled? Shouldn't it come enabled regardless what trim level I have? I have a 2015 Cooper @ Hatch with the JCW appearance stuff, but most of the interior is pretty basic.
Yea I figured that is should just "be there" as it would be a neccessary feature. I am positive that the option isn't there, and I've followed the same video but the option just isn't there. when I select "Vehicle Status" I only have "Service Requirements" and "Check Control" as options. Completely different options from the video you shared. Pic below as proof!!
Just don't get it! LOL and the "TEL" button doesn't work (I don't even have bluetooth in the settings section to set up a phone... WTF?)
Is there an older Gen mini that maybe this radio was swapped in from? An older gen that has a dipstick? Thinking maybe the previous owner put it in to replace an infotainment unit he had and cheaped out on the replacement just to trade it in at the dealership?? Possible?
To check your oil, from the main menu of your radio (Connected, XL, or base - it's the same), go to VEHICLE INFO, then to VEHICLE STATUS. There is an option to measure engine oil level. The engine has to be warmed up and you have to be parked, the measurement takes a minute, but your screen will display a gauge that will show how much oil you have.
Hey @Jason Cornelius if you read my original post and check out my pic in the thread, you'll see I've tried that and the "Vehicle Status" menu doesn't even have that as an option to select. That's why I'm stumped.

No, the radio wouldn’t be from a previous generation MINI because it was introduced/released for the third generation MINI (which your model is) and is not compatible with earlier generations.
It’s always possible the previous owner/dealership had the radio replaced and it was never coded/programmed (some parts need to be coded after they are replaced to fully function).
I don’t know if the radio can be downgraded.
- I would contact the dealership you purchased it from and asked if they replaced it. If it’s not an official MINI dealership maybe they didn’t know it needed to be coded/programmed.
It’s always possible this is the original radio and it’s having some kind of hardware failure and needs to be replaced.
- In both scenarios it may explain why the radio doesn’t have the option to check engine oil or have Bluetooth functionality.
I hope this problem gets resolved quickly

Engine has to be running and warmed up before it will give you the option to check oil.
Its not there even after a 2 hour drive home after picking it up from a dealership... all the videos I've seen the option is there, but greyed out... for my radio, the option isn't even there to begin with :(
Seriously, I would call the dealer first thing Monday morning and explain it to them.
Yea, I'm thinking that's really my only option. Closest Mini dealer is 1 hour away so I was trying to see if there was something I could do at home prior to visiting. Forums have saved me several times for my other vehicles so I figured I'd give it a shot :D
