Amp turn on wire. Boot cigarette lighter or Pin1 on X15 connector?

Hey all,
Any of you have success, using the boot mounted cigarette lighter/accessory socket as a source of power to turn the amp on?
I'm taking the main power feed, directly from the battery.
I've heard about the black wire on pin 1 on the x15 connector. Which is best??
I have an 2013 R56 JCW.
Cheers fellas.

There are several threads here in which amp turn on sources are discussed. Have you tried searching?

Note: all of the car's alarms are output via the radio (even when it is "switched off" by the user). This includes warning sounds for CELs but also for lights that are left on, doors, etc.

The power socket in the front is not a suitable source as it is only powered when the engine is actually running ("ignition on" only has no effect). I'd suspect that the same applies to the rear power socket.

I fully understand how frustrated 'regulars' get, when questions are posted, with apparently little, if any, initial research.
I can assure you, I have done a lot of research regarding my question.
However, I'm still a little unsure.
Are you saying, the black wire from pin 1 on the X15 connector, is the way to go?
You mention the car's alarm, warning sounds for CEL's, is this a reason NOT to use the pin 1, X15 connector?? You've confused me a little!

Why do you assume I (or anyone else for that matter) am frustrated? I simply can't give you a black or white answer as you seem to prefer. Indeed, I can't comment on the X15 connector at all (otherwise I would already have done so). Maybe someone more knowledgeable than me will.

By the way: "car's alarms" refers to the sounds the car makes in order to attract the driver's attention. NOT an anti-theft car alarm.

And FWIW: When I was researching about installing an amp in my Mini, I came across several posts here on 2nd generation NAM in which different amp turn on options were discussed in quite some depth (like e.g. this excellent albeit short one which comes up at fourth place right after this thread's posts when searching for "X15"):
https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ml#post4462906).

Since I went with an high level input amp with auto turn on, I didn't keep in all the details. What I do remember from those discussions I posted above in case it may be of some use.
