Brake lights

the lower rear brake light on our 2016 Clubman burnt out. Got a new one from the dealer part No. 63 11 7 359 245 after installing light still doesn't work. I called the dealer they said you can't replace the bulb you have to replace the entire fixture, that seems crazy to me. Also now the left turn signal is blinking very fast the dealer said that was because of the lower fixture needs replacing.

I took the inside bulb (not sure what is for since I can seem to get it to illuminate) and moved it to outside and brake light now works but still have fast blinking turn signal on same side as the problem lower brake light. I put the new bulb I got from the dealer in the inside socket.

Does anyone have any insight on this situation? Sorry F54

OK I fixed the problem Bulb holder needed the contacts to be pulled out a bit to make a better connection, lower brake lights are working and no more fault on the turn signal. Kills me the dealer said I needed to replace the entire lower brake light assembly. Miss our dealer in Maryland folks here in Austin not as knowledgeable.

There is supposedly a known problem with the assembly. I've done the dormant inner bulb switch (it doesn't light up in the US), but have burnt out two of those. Probably going to look for a new (right side) assembly rather than risking a $20 (?!) bulb.
