Lights on Center Display Questions

Hi,

Been enjoying my 2019 Cooper S 2 door the past 2.5 years....overall, great car!

This morning I got to work around 6:20 am so still dark, parked car, got out and locked car. Noticed when I looked inside car that the light ring around the center display was pulsating with red light. Also, noticed the red triangle hazard light icon and the little orange car icon next to it and the green 'P' on shift **** were lit.

Don't recall this being like this before.

I went back to car to check it around 9:30 am and lights were off.

Is it normal to see the lights lit up as described above or does this mean there's an issue with car?

Thanks for your input.

Mark

Hi Mark,

You have nothing to worry about because this is normal behavior on the F series MINIs.

The LED ring will pulsate red for a few minutes until it dims out.

The LEDs on the hazard button and “P” on the shift lever turn off within five minutes.

I love the pulsating effect on the LED ring but don’t understand why the others stay on for a little.

My brother’s 3 series BMW has the same behavior with the hazard LED and “P” on the shift lever.

I hope this helps,

Rich

Hi Rich,

Thank you for your helpful input!

Glad to hear that this is normal....made me a bit nervous this morning.

It's odd that I didn't notice (or remember...) the red color before....think I've seen other colors on the ring....

Best,

Mark

I noticed same thing last week. good to see this addressed, my mind is eased now. ALSO you will notice a difference if you drive with lights on (first thing in a.m.) or later in day (with lights off) go figure !

Hi Mark,

I’ve noticed the same behavior with the LED ring not pulsating when locking the door using the MINI app.

Gotta love the MINI quirks

Mark,

MINI released a newer version of their app with a redesigned UI and better connectivity.

iOS: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/mini/id1519458349

Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...hl=en_US&gl=US

Have a great night,

Rich

The answer to this is pretty easy, your MINI is alive, sometimes it wants crackers, or pizza, or a smoothie, just kind of depends on the nutrient intake and a few other things
